Bounce by Matthew Syed This is not a book strictly on marathons but a good read non the less! I loved this book from a novice runners point of view (I took up running in 2010) I had this idea in my head ` I am not runner, I was always at the back of the pack in cross country at school and hated it. I am genetically just not born to run’ However after reading this book , I realised that I can turn myself into a runner – and that is what I wanted to do, I suddenly decided that I wanted to run the ING NYC marathon in 2011 with my daughter Kate, from never running all my life. Reading this book was my inspiration.An interesting quote from Matthew Syed.. “If you believe that excellence hinges on talent that any time you fail you are going to interpret that as you having insufficient talent and you are likely to give up. If you believe that excellence hinges on effort, than any failure you see as an opportunity to adapt and grow and it is that perseverance will lead to the excellence” |
