Tokyo is the capital of Japan. It is also the largest city in the world. There is a lot of history and culture interspersed into this modern sprawling metropolitan centre. Every year it also hosts the incredibly popular Tokyo Marathon, which had now been recognised as a marathon world major. An international friendship run takes places the day before the marathon to entertain runners from overseas.
While in Tokyo you can enjoy the many tourist highlights. Take a trip to the Imperial Palace, visit Akihabara (Electric Town), take a stroll through to get a taste of the classic shitamachi (downtown) townscape and lifestyle of Edo-period Tokyo, Tokyo Midtown, The Ishinki and Myomu Sculptures or dine out at one of the many restaurants.
